BCB Grants Nahid Rana NOC for PSL Final: A Boost for Bangladesh Cricket
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) had earlier decided not to issue any more No-Objection Certificates (NOCs) for the remaining part of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). However, the board has made an exception for rising pace star Nahid Rana, granting him permission to play in the PSL final.
This season, six Bangladeshi cricketers took part in the PSL. Three of them were in the Peshawar Zalmi squad – Nahid Rana, Shoriful Islam, and Tanzid Hasan Tamim. While Tanzid did not get chances regularly, Nahid and Shoriful became key players for the team.
Nahid Rana Rested for T20I Series
Meanwhile, Nahid was rested for the ongoing T20I series against New Zealand. Mustafizur Rahman, who had been playing for Lahore Qalandars, was also rested. Neither player was initially given permission to return to the PSL, mainly because both had some injury concerns.
However, with Peshawar Zalmi reaching the final, BCB has now allowed Nahid to travel back and play the title match.
BCB Explains the Decision
In an official statement, the board explained the reason behind the move. BCB said, “This decision has been made considering the significance of participating in the final of a major global franchise competition, which is viewed as an important step in the continued development of the player. More importantly, the team management and BCB medical team has provided clearance, confirming that his participation in the match will not adversely affect his fitness, workload management or availability for national duty.”
The decision has already been welcomed by Peshawar Zalmi owner Javed Afridi, who publicly thanked BCB president Tamim Iqbal for allowing Nahid to play the final.
